Flower Delivery to Beeston, Norfolk with Clare Florist

Located three miles north of the A47, Beeston is a small village located in Norfolk. It is situated between Swaffham and Dereham. To differentiate itself from three other villages in Norfolk called Beeston, the town is also known as Beeston All Saints or Beeston-next-Mileham.

HISTORY

During the 19th century, Beeston was home to many businesses and tradesmen who dabbled in shoe-making and baking. There were blacksmiths and wheelwrights as well. The town was also home to four public houses namely The Bell Inn, The Holkham Arms, The Ploughshre and an unnamed establishment which was listed in 1836.

A lot of changes occurred in town following the Second World War. The American Airforce took over a large portion of the village because they were stationed in the nearby Wendling Airbase. They built a number of structures to house the airmen and these buildings were used to house local families after the war.

The village of Beeston is a thriving one and has its own school and public house. Unfortunately, the shop in town closed down in 2009.

THINGS TO DO

The Ploughshare – the pub was re-established as the focal point of the village. Here, traditional ales – including those from the local Beeston Brewery are served – as well as wine and great food. A variety of events such as Burns Night, St George's Day, St Patrick's Day and Clay Pigeon Shooting are supported by the pub.
